The latest edition of Scottish Local Retailer magazine features Send For Help in an article discussing lone working within the retail sector and how employers are utilising innovative new safety technology.
Send For Help has reported a sharp increase in the number of firms from the retail, transport and logistics sectors using it’s GPS personal safety devices, which coincides with recent figures from the British Retail Consortium (BRC) showing a rise in violent incidents against shopworkers over the past year.
Those working alone within the retail environment are potentially vulnerable to verbal abuse, assault and injury. The BRC claim that as many as 115 retail workers are attacked every day whilst just trying to do their job.
Given these safety challenges, how can today’s retailers fulfill their duty of care to keep staff safe?
