MicroSOS – the world’s smallest and lightest lone worker device – has been awarded the prestigious Secured by Design accreditation, guaranteeing national Police approval of its use.
Exclusively developed by Peoplesafe, the innovative personal alarm is one of a select few devices – including its predecessor, Microguard – that meet a strict series of requirements set by the Police. MicroSOS now carries Police Preferred Specification Status, so end users can rest assured that the device offers the highest level of protection to assist lone workers and those at risk in an emergency.
Established almost 30 years ago, Secured by Design is the official UK Police flagship initiative which combines the principles of ‘designing out crime’ with physical security and processes. It acknowledges quality security products and crime prevention projects as part of its aim to reduce crime by creating high level security standards.
Launched last month at the Safety & Health Expo in London, MicroSOS represents the next generation in lone worker protection. The tiny unit has the appearance of a USB stick, making it ideal for getting help discreetly. With just one button press the BS 8484:2016 certified device links up to Peoplesafe’s Alarm Receiving Centre which is able to provide assistance 24/7 via a skilled team of Controllers who have a priority Police response at their disposal if necessary.
Even if a user is not able to press the SOS button manually, the device also has an optional ‘man down’ sensor which can automatically activate the alarm should a user fall and become incapacitated.
Durable and robust, MicroSOS is IP67 rated meaning it is waterproof and fully protected against dust particles – therefore its use can be applied across a wide range of industries and sectors from manufacturing, engineering and construction to housing and social care.
