Skyguard’s MySOS personal alarm has featured in the BAFTA winning series Broadchurch, providing support for a rape victim.
The third and final series of the popular ITV crime drama focuses on a brutal sexual assault, the aftermath and the effect this has on the victim. It highlights the important role played by Police and rape counsellors in providing help and support to victims. A difficult subject matter for such a high profile show, the program’s makers have been widely praised for it’s handling of the issues involved.
Send For Help subsidiary Skyguard work with over half of the UK’s Police forces, helping to protect vulnerable individuals including those who have suffered physical and sexual abuse. The MySOS device issued to the victim on Broadchurch, allows users to press a button if they feel threatened and speak to specially trained Controllers who can summon the emergency services – providing a much faster response than dialing 999.
The series, staring David Tennant and Olivia Colman continues on Monday nights, treating fans to many plot twists and turns along the way.
